I wanted to buy my son an electronic chess set that would also help teach him the game. Of course there are plenty of chess programs he could play online but I didn't want him to be staring at a monitor when playing. This chess set was perfect.
When I can't play against him myself this comes in handy. He plays it a lot and it has helped him improve his game. It has a total of 8 games that can be played including checkers, but we haven't tried any other game than chess as that is his preferred game. If your kid is interested in chess or checkers this will keep them entertained and keep them off the monitor. Keep your kids off of monitors as much as possible! Highly recommended.
